CO2 extraction is a competitive, sustainable and innovative solution for a wide range of API from medicinal herbs and other natural sources. Altex, AINIA’s multipurpose CO2 industrial facility, provides Pharma industry with access to high pressure CO2 processing for advanced extraction, purification and specific treatments for materials. This industrial GMP plant runs from subcritical up to 350bar supercritical CO2 conditions.
Our technology makes possible to produce CO2 extracts in accordance to client´s specifications, without affecting labile active substances and with GMP compliance, making possible to generate high-quality API´s.
Pure Cocoa butter CO2 extract is directly obtained as a white stable fine powder, ready to melt once spread over the skin. This is an example to illustrate that suitable technical ingredients interesting for pharmaceutical products may be obtained.

API EXTRACTION

  • Phytochemicals obtained from natural sources are identified as active for traditional purposes and more recently, as base for active pharmaceuticals.
  • Some well-known botanical derived oils and extracts may be useful for pharma-related product, and there are others that are more specific and not mentioned in published or commercial information due to several reasons, among them confidentiality.

REMOVAL OF UNDESIRABLE COMPONENTS

  • CO2 is able to remove substances from valuable matrixes without affecting their structure.
  • Non desired toxic compounds such as pesticides, chemical monomer traces, solvent traces, or other contaminants may be selectively removed from your products without affecting their quality.
  • High pressure CO2 can also promote microbial inactivation, without the use of high temperatures.

  • Treatment of advanced materials to generate suitable products for healing purposes.
  • Impregnation of biocompatible supporting materials with CO2-soluble active substances.
